Thomas says his office is looking into whether any state laws like indecent exposure or exploitation are being broken. He's also asked the FBI to take a look at the Jasmine Trail website and advertisements to see if any federal laws are being violated.Thomas says he wants new legislation to ban children from nudist venues. AANR is defending the resort.
Another big concern is the possibility that places like Jasmine Trail could attract pedophiles. Thomas says, "When you have children involved and children being exposed to other adults and certainly other adults not even related and they're there with no clothes on it certainly, in my mind, raises a security issue and safety issue for the child."
American Association for Nude Recreation spokeswoman, Carolyn Hawkins, says there is nothing inappropriate, lewd, sexual, or perverted about what's going on. "Having a child at a nudist resort...It's just one of the, in my opinion, one of the greatest things that I've ever done in my life. My children, my grandchildren, my great grandchildren are all nudists."It needs to be said up front and clearly that there are NO COMPLAINTS against Jasmine Trail, this is entirely a manufactured controversy by an overzealous attorney general who is not interested in the law, but in furthering his own political career.
Be sure to watch the video here from WITN TV, which treats the subject like Chris Hansen entrapping child predators on Dateline, with the reporter standing outside the resort saying that the owners refused to talk to him. AANR spokesperson Carolyn Hawkins in a phone interview is no match for DA Thomas and Human Services Director Bob Johnson, who are interviewed on camera expressing their concerns about "fit" parents and conflicted children. Johnson says that in an ideal world family nudism would be OK, but that in a realistic world such activity is bad.
"We would have to look at the area from the standpoint of neglect and I think it would be a very easy case to prove."This has been coming for some time now, with increased hysteria over pedophiles, child pornography, and teen sexting. Make no mistake here - with the involvement of the FBI, these people intend to bust the owners and members of Jasmine Trail for child exploitation, neglect, indecent exposure and child pornography, which would be the beginning of the end for all family nudist venues.
Take children out of nudism, and you kill nudism. Simple as that. This is Mark Foley all over again, but this time with the FBI involved, and in a region of the country which might be more willing to condemn nudism. In the minds of these public officials, and through the damning television report, the people at Jasmine Trail have already been found guilty.
NOTE: It appears that all photographs of children have been removed from the Jasmine Trail website, which is tantamount to an admission of guilt. Morley Schloss and Sunsport Gardens are about the only ones left in naturist cyberspace willing to post photos of children engaging in wholesome nude recreation.

It appears that there are no photos of people, of any age, nude or not.
I agree this is a witch hunt and is politically movitvated.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I disagree with your statement "Take children out of nudism, and you kill nudism. Simple as that." In my opinion, if you take kids out of nudism, it will blossom.
Why are the nude places in Mexico and the Caribbean so popular? One of the reasons is no kids. Why are we the most popular nudsit place in Palm Springs? Again a big reason, no kids.
We have gusts from around the world that will only stay with us and one of the reasons is no kids.
You can run child free nudist venues that are NOT swinger places. Ownership has to work harder with their screening process, but is can be done successfully and we are living proof.

Tom, What you are talking about is not nudism, it's adult recreation. With all due respect, while your resort caters to a clothing-optional couple oriented adult crowd, it's not really nudism or naturism as traditionally defined. That's not a slam - I agree with you that resorts like yours can and should thrive, and if children are restricted by law from entering nudist campgrounds, yes, they probably will continue to exist.
ReplyDeleteNudiam and naturism teach that all bodies are good, that there is nothing to be ashamed of, and that nude people can socialize and behave the same as textiles.
But once you remove children and families from the mix, nudism and naturism become something different, something just for adults like drinking, smoking, sex, strip clubs, etc. Make no mistake - once it becomes an 18 or older activity, the swinger crowd will eventually take over, and then it will draw the attention of every cop, district attorney, prosecutor, government official, private citizen, church and civic group who will rise up and run them all out of town through regulation, zoning and ordinances.
First of all Tom - if children are the future which they are how can removing them from naturism only cause it to blossom? I have been to a club that has a membership that is largely adult with only 5 people below the age of 20 members, 2 of these already wear clothes most of the time unless they go swimming, 1 of whom id never met and another id only met outside of the club, the 5th person? She would only go nude if it was fantastic weather and she has just got a job as a nurse meaning that any naturist activities have to be kept quiet or the media will have a field day! This club is so overrun with older members they will not take on new members and I suspect eventually it will die out.
ReplyDeleteSecondly this is a fine example of the textile world misunderstanding the naturist environment - children generally are far more protected at naturist events/clubs because the genuine naturists all look out for each other and any peadophiles/unsavoury characters are easy to spot and remove. Assuming the AANR takes similar action to British Naturism (the creation of a blacklist containing details of all people who are not allowed to join BN affiliated clubs as they have a risky past with regards to children or sex offences) then there is no reason why children are any more at risk at a naturist event than at a textile paddling pool in the local park/recreation ground!!
Yes, kids should be allowed at ALL nudist places. Actually, all 6,795,800,000 people should be nudists.
ReplyDelete"attracts pedophiles"? So you telling me they don't exist in clothed areas? ANYWHERE with kids is great for pedophiles - them wearing clothes doesn't make the pedophiles go away. Sheesh.
